Blue Book, Turning

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. – Helen Keller

To: My Future Students!

Greetings!

I hope you have all had a fantastic and relaxing summer!  I am very excited for this upcoming school year and the opportunity to get to teach and know you all.

Can you keep a secret?!

Most people think that I spent my summer here in St. Augustine- but they’re WRONG!  I visited so many neat and enchanting places, sometimes several a day!

I spent some time in a far away castle fighting off evil dragons.  I also swam beneath the water with dolphins and played catch with the sharks.  I wrestled a two-headed monster and hung out with some friends aboard a space ship.  I traveled to the moon on my personal rocket, and flew across the world with my great big wings!

That’s right- I read so many exciting books this summer that took my imagination on so many special adventures.

I love to read about all different kinds of things: mysteries, action-filled books, and especially ones that make me laugh and even cry.

I want to find out what YOU like to read so you’ll be able to escape on vacations and exciting adventures while in the classroom!

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and get ready for a fun-filled school year with lots of excitement and surprises!

See you soon! Until then- I’m off to swing on the vines with some friends in the jungle!

                                                                           Sincerely,

                                                                            Ms. Milly

Why is Reading Important?!

We read for so many different reasons!  Reading is important for personal and immediate rewards.  We read about subjects that are of interest to us.  We also learn new interests through reading books that have the ability to take us places we have never been before!  Reading has a unique way of becoming a part of us through time.

When we read, we are increasing our reading skills and furthering our educational opportunities without even realizing it!  The importance of reading can be summed up as follows:

1.    The more you read, the more you learn.

2.    The more you know, the more you can grow as a person.

3.    Reading allows us to escape to anywhere we want to go!
